Dr. Oscar Andres Rodriguez Ayala has clinical experience in nephrology, internal medicine, general practice, and emergency medicine. Throughout his medical career, Dr. Rodriguez Ayala has also cared for underserved communities, including communities in Mexico and Puerto Rico following Hurricane Maria.
Dr. Rodriguez Ayala earned his Doctor of Medicine in General Medicine from Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara in Mexico after completing his Bachelor of Science at the University of Puerto Rico, Bayamón Campus. He completed his General Practice Internship at Dr. Pila’s Hospital in Ponce, Puerto Rico, followed by his Internal Medicine Residency at Hospital Regional Ramón Ruiz Arnau in Bayamón, Puerto Rico. He then completed a Clinical Nephrology Fellowship at New York-Presbyterian Queens.
Dr. Rodriguez Ayala has contributed to research examining the impact of early nephrology consultation for hyponatremia on patient outcomes and length of stay in collaboration with the Nephrology Department at New York-Presbyterian Queens. During his Internal Medicine Residency, he also served as Chief Resident and participated in an educational workshop focused on incorporating electrocardiogram interpretation training into the residency curriculum. He is a member of the American Society of Nephrology and the American College of Physicians.
