Dr. Irene Joseph is an obstetrician and gynecologist with experience providing comprehensive care to high-risk and underserved patient populations. Her clinical experience includes low and high-risk pregnancy management, preconception counseling, menopause management, urogynecology counseling, and gynecologic surgical management. Her approach emphasizes individualized care, shared decision-making, continuity of care, and accessibility.
Dr. Joseph earned her Doctor of Medicine from Albany Medical College after completing her Bachelor of Arts in Biology, magna cum laude, at Siena College. She completed her Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency at Nassau University Medical Center (NUMC), where she later served as Administrative Chief Resident. During her training, she received the Award for Excellence in Urogynecology from the American Urogynecologic Society and two Medical Student Teaching Awards. Most recently, Dr. Joseph was selected as Chief Resident of the Year, and received the Resident Research award from NUMC.
Dr. Joseph has been involved in research focused on quality improvement, access to care, health disparities, urinary incontinence, and endometriosis. Her work includes research examining knowledge and perceptions of urinary incontinence in relation to acculturation among Hispanic women and an external validation study of the 2021 AAGL Endometriosis Classification System. In addition to her research, she has held roles in resident education, mentorship, program evaluation, and resident wellness.
