Dr. Douglas R. Birns is a board-certified urologist with nearly four decades of experience providing comprehensive urological care. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree Cum Laude from Middlebury College before receiving his medical degree from SUNY Downstate Medical Center.
Dr. Birns completed his General Surgery internship and Urology residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center, where he has maintained a continuous academic appointment since 1982. He has served as Assistant Clinical Professor of Urology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai since 1986, demonstrating a longstanding commitment to medical education and mentoring future physicians.
Dr. Birns has contributed to the urological literature with peer-reviewed publications on renal angiomyolipoma management and rare urological oncology cases.
