Welcoming Obstetrician and Gynecologist, Dr. Irene Joseph
New York Health (NY Health) is proud to announce the addition of Dr. Irene Joseph, an obstetrician and gynecologist experienced in providing comprehensive care to high-risk and underserved patient populations. Beginning October 5, 2026, Dr. Joseph will practice at NY Health’s offices at 214 East Main Street Patchogue, NY 11772 and 148 Terry Road Smithtown, NY 11787.

Dr. Joseph’s clinical experience spans comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic care, including low and high-risk pregnancy management, preconception counseling, menopause management, urogynecology counseling, and gynecologic surgical management. Her approach to care emphasizes shared decision-making and maintaining continuity and accessibility for her patients.
Dr. Joseph earned her Doctor of Medicine from Albany Medical College after graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Siena College. She completed her Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency at Nassau University Medical Center, where she later served as Administrative Chief Resident. During her training, Dr. Joseph received the Award for Excellence in Urogynecology from the American Urogynecologic Society and was twice recognized with a Medical Student Teaching Award.

Beyond her clinical work, Dr. Joseph has contributed to research addressing quality improvement, access to care, health disparities, urinary incontinence, and endometriosis. Her research includes an investigation into the relationship between acculturation and perceptions of urinary incontinence among Hispanic women, as well as an external validation study of the 2021 AAGL Endometriosis Classification System. Dr. Joseph has also contributed to resident education, mentorship, program evaluation, and residency wellness throughout her medical training.
