Welcoming Nephrologist, Dr. Oscar Rodriguez Ayala

PORT JEFFERSON, NY — October 1, 2026 — New York Health (NY Health) is proud to announce the addition of nephrologist, Dr. Oscar Andres Rodriguez Ayala. Beginning October 1, 2026, Dr. Rodriguez Ayala will practice at NY Health’s office at 5316 Nesconset Highway, Port Jefferson Station, NY 11776.

We look forward to the knowledge and dedication he will bring to our patients.”

Dr. Rodriguez Ayala’s clinical background includes experience in nephrology, internal medicine, and emergency medicine. Throughout his medical career, he has also cared for underserved communities, including communities in Mexico and Puerto Rico following Hurricane Maria.

Dr. Rodriguez Ayala earned his Doctor of Medicine in General Medicine from Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara in Mexico after completing his Bachelor of Science at the University of Puerto Rico, Bayamón Campus. He completed his General Practice Internship at Dr. Pila Hospital in Ponce, Puerto Rico, followed by his Internal Medicine Residency at Hospital Regional Ramón Ruiz Arnau in Bayamón, Puerto Rico. He then completed a Clinical Nephrology Fellowship at New York-Presbyterian Queens.

“I am excited to join New York Health and bring my experience in nephrology to the patients we serve,” said Dr. Rodriguez Ayala. “I look forward to building strong relationships with my patients and providing thoughtful, individualized care while helping them navigate their kidney health.”

Dr. Rodriguez Ayala has contributed to research examining the impact of early nephrology consultation for hyponatremia on patient outcomes and length of stay in collaboration with the Nephrology Department at New York-Presbyterian Queens. During his Internal Medicine Residency, he also served as Chief Resident and participated in an educational workshop focused on incorporating electrocardiogram interpretation training into the residency curriculum. He is a member of the American Society of Nephrology and the American College of Physicians.
