Dr. Samuel Brown, practices primarily at our Port Jefferson office, as well as heads our Riverhead office location. Originally from Northeastern Pennsylvania, he attended The Pennsylvania State University prior to earning his medical degree from The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He moved to Long Island in 2010 to complete his internship and residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Stony Brook University Medical Center. Following residency, he went on to complete an ACGME Accredited fellowship in Anesthesia Pain Medicine at the widely renowned University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. There he received extensive training in the latest interventional and surgical procedures to alleviate chronic pain and suffering.
In 2015, he returned to Long Island where he, alongside Dr. Durkin, founded the Pain Institute of Long Island with the goal of offering the best pain management care on Long Island. Dr. Brown, and his loving wife and their two adorable sons, are residents of Port Jefferson Village, where he has proudly served his local community as an active member of the Port Jefferson Fire Department’s Engine Company and Heavy Rescue squad.
The author of numerous journal articles and case presentations on pain management, Dr. Brown also has regularly presented at national and regional pain conferences. He is a clinical assistant professor and regularly educates residents and medical students from NYCOM and Stony Brook University Medical Center in the areas of Physical Medicine and Pain Management and oversees their clinical education. He is dual board certified by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Pain Medicine.
His approach to pain management is compassionate, and patient-centered, with a primary focus on improving patient function and facilitating their ability to enjoy life without the need for surgery. He takes a special professional interest in minimally invasive spine procedures and regenerative medicine. He is consistently among the first to offer newly approved treatment options to patients on Long Island.
