Dr. Vlase graduated from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Victor Babes” Timisoara, Romania in 1990. Thereafter he served as a clinical instructor in medicine between 1990-1993 at the same institution. His post graduate training included a postdoctoral fellowship in Endocrinology at The Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York (1993 – 1997), residency in Internal Medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital, New York (1997 – 2000) along with his fellowship in nephrology, at Lenox Hill Hospital, New York (2000 – 2002).
Throughout his training he has been presented with several awards, including: the “Eugene V. Weissman” memorial fellowship of the Irvington Institute for Immunological Research, New York, and the Strathmore’s Who’s Who in America. He published multiple papers in peer reviewed journals and presented his research at both national and international meetings. He has an academic affiliation as Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at Stony Brook University Hospital, New York.
Dr. Vlase is board certified in internal medicine and nephrology, and he is a member of the American Society of Hypertension, National Kidney Foundation and the American Society of Nephrology. He was also recently designated as a Specialist in Clinical Hypertension by the Board of the American Society of Hypertension. Dr. Vlase plays an active role in our Chronic Kidney Disease Clinic and has a special clinical interest in management of chronic kidney disease and resistant hypertension.
